The hype in modern workplaces that have to be handed down to almost all of our users in order to work anywhere brings us back to an older problem of application delivery and application management. And yet MANY organizations still have MANY applications.

Are your applications not ready to be easily installed with Windows Store or Endpoint Management solutions or Workspace Portals? What if you could reuse your already packaged applications to send on your laptops as well? Or actually any workspace…

By implementing Infrastructure as Code you basically change from working as an Infrastructure Engineer to being a Software Developer. Especially in the beginning everything seems easy and uncomplicated but as further you go things get more complicated and may bring yourself into trouble.

We will show you what is needed to tackle most of the problems in the CI/CD toolchain and present you our best practices from developing infrastructures as well as SaaS applications.

This overview is for everybody who is thinking about implementing an IaC pipeline as well as for those who want to understand the complexity behind this topic.

Sinisa Sokolic, Sinisa is member of the board of RIS AG. He has more than 20 years of experience in large infrastructure automation projects and is leading the development team behind the XOAP product range. 12:50 - 13:30

We  have all heard the sayings about “If you think a good consultant is  expensive then you should try using a bad one!” but how does that  actually translate in the real world.

What  actually happens to an organisation when they have a bad EUC  implementation? What is the true time wasted in the business and how do  you quantify it in real terms to a business?

In  this session we will show you how to classify support overhead using  two real world examples that demonstrate what effective system design  provides to a business and what a bad design can cost.

Adam Cooperman,  Adam has been fascinated by technology since a young age when he  received a ZX Spectrum for Christmas. He started programming at 10 years  old and has been developing my skillset ever since.

Having  worked in IT for over 15 years in every role from front line support to  solution architecture, he now works for Flexxible IT, helping  organisations embrace flexible workstyles, transforming IT into a core  driver for business change and efficiency.

Defending against the unknown – the “reverse proxy” myth.

14.00 - 14.40

Many companies are currently facing higher load on their systems as users tend to consume more websites with video and other graphics intensive workloads. Some companies implement Web-Based trainings plattforms while others have Unified Communication solutions that use a browser to play recorded sessions. A solution to offload this from the VDI to the Endpoint is Browser Content Redirection. In this session we will have a look at the configuration and some stumbling points that can occur. Next to that we will look at the possibilities for users to share their screen with other users in a performant way that even allows graphics intensive application usage like CAD software. Last but not least we will discuss HDX Graphics settings and improvements.

Defending against the unknown – the “reverse proxy” myth.

14.00 - 14.40

While everybody has an idea about Windows Desktop protection, the majority of corporate websites and webservices spend their lives in a pretty much uncontrolled fashion – until somebody blows your lights out, encrypts all your data or at least tampers core services for a longer time. Vendor guidance and common best practices promote reverse proxy architectures being the holy grail to ensure “security” but looking into real-world deployments, it doesn’t go much beyond a simple NAT rule. Let’s discuss why “reverse proxy” and “reverse proxy security” is miles away from each other and what should be in your toolkit when the next guy asks you to integrate a new webservice for public usage with employees, partners and potentially the rest of the world. After attending this session, you’ll likely won’t sleep any better, but at least get out with an updated perspective not blended by vendors’ marketing crap any longer. And of course this will be a Citrix ADC trojan horse lessions learned session, as expected…

14.00 - 17.00

From zero to Hero in 180 minutes.

This  session will guide you through the complete implementation of an  Infrastructure as Code pipeline as well as the necessary toolchain.

We  will start by organizing the work, defining the structure of  repositories and code modularization, taking care about naming  conventions and talk about differences between working alone or in a  larger team.

In the end, we will  combine all these topics with tools and products that you can use to  make your life easier and reduce the mistakes that can happen to you  when developing and improving your infrastructures.

Since Sacha has been promoting his Tesla for years more than a car salesman and even published an article on his technical blog last year, Alex asked him to report on this topic. Since his Citrix/CTP/EUC fellow René Bigler has also recently started driving an American electric car beginning with a T, he will also explain his reasons for this paradigm shift. Maybe we will show you in this session how you can update your Nutanix Cluster from the car dashboard or what the most expensive Thin Client for Citrix if the HTML5 WorkspaceApp works well on the car center screen.

Sometimes you ask yourself, is my infrastructure and my applications still state of the art? Remark, if you ask yourself that, then they are probably not. There are a lot of consultants out there from big companies promising me a blue sky but talking all the time about clouds. This is mostly confusing but is that cloud solution for all my problems? Remark, probably not but some problems vaporise themselves like clouds within the time. Saša will talk about 10 signs when you are sure that your infrastructure and management are outdated. Try to answer heavy questions like what and where is that data centre of the future. And give you some architectural guidance if you have to make this journey in years to come
