Get the freshest news out of Redmond and popular highlights around Azure Hybrid Infrastructure including Virtual Machines, Security, Disaster Recovery, Hybrid Storage and Hybrid Management.
XenServer for VMware Admins - The Magic Fountain Edition.XenServer is the underlying infrastructure powering multiple Citrix core offerings. While many Citrix admins use XenServer to host Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp services, many VMware admins have yet to make a move. If you’re a VMware administrator, you should take a closer look at XenServer management, which can round out your infrastructure skills and enable you to make full use of a Citrix platform that is optimized to work together. This session will cover the XenServer stack, high availability, backup and recovery, migration, troubleshooting, automation and performance monitoring.
The Cloud - A Brave New World. This is the story of an infrastructure dinosaur being thrown in a startup company running everything in the Cloud. Learn in this session what difficulties the dinosaur had getting used to working with Developers in DevOps mode and what both sides can learn from each other. All the freaking buzzwords and technologies will be used to underline what´s really important.

Microsoft RDS - current state and future vision.Over the past year, we’ve witnessed many changes, improvements & new directions regarding Microsoft Remote Desktop Services. Microsoft officially pulled the plug out of Azure RemoteApp. GPU accelerated VM’s became general available in Azure allowing End User Computing to leverage GPU from the public Cloud. Microsoft released their first Azure Resource Manager template in the Azure Marketplace to build RDS in IaaS. A change was made in licensing to allow Windows10 in the Cloud. And most recently, Remote Desktop modern infrastructure (RDmi) was born which became the first step into Remote Desktop Services as the platform going forward. Time take a step back, discuss these new directions and take look at the future of Remote Desktop Services. Benny and Freek, both independent consultants and EUC experts, will show you the current state of RDS and a view on the future. Amongst other topics, this session will cover;
- Remote End User Experience benchmarking
- DDA, N-series VM's & performance tuning your applications for GPU
- Azure Resource Manager to deploy RDS in IaaS in under 40 min.
- Remote Desktop modern interface (RDmi)

Introduction to Azure IaaS
Have you ever wondered what Azure is and what it does? The entry point to Azure for most IT professionals is Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS); in other words: virtual machines, storage, and networking. This session is a condensed version of Aidan Finn’s new “Cloud Mechanix” training course that will be coming to Europe in 2018, delivered especially for the fine folks at E2EVC. In this class you’ll quickly learn what Azure is (and isn’t), and how to get started, correctly and securely, with solutions built on Azure virtual machines, such as disaster recovery, LOB/web servers, XenApp/RDS, third-party backup services, and so on.

Securing Windows desktops – why
it’s our problem! Jorrit talks through “the basics” of
securing a Windows desktop to help reduce the risk of ransomware attack
and improve image management. Ransomware attacks are up 300%.
Whilst deploying Virtualised desktops can help keep apps and data in
the datacentre, the responsibility of protecting the users from such
attacks are no longer the job of the InfoSec guys. Securing users and
desktops is fast becoming the responsibility of the End user computing
/ Windows engineering teams.

this interactive session, we’ll try to sum up the question.
As you (may) know you have to choose between the stability (LTSR) and
the new features (Current Release). This session will allow you to
choose the right one!

Lockdown 1.0: Securing Your Deployment Citrix has
been in the Application and Desktop Virtualization Game for over 26
years, and it has been primarily deployed for Centralization and
Security reasons. In this session, you will learn how to
secure your Citrix deployment against intellectual property theft, how
to survive a penetration test along with some of the most common
attacks. The amount of attacks continues to rise, and the
amount of data that has been released\leaked from so many companies is
staggering. Just like most things, many of these breaches could have
been prevented by having basic security policies in place and some
basic patching in many cases. We will show you all the free
things you can do to lock down your deployment and what products people
use to go to the next level in security. Citrix has one of the most
comprehensive and secure deployment options compared to any other
solution out there, but many partners\clients never take the simple
steps to lock it down because of the extra time it takes.
Come and listen to learn how to implement true security for your
deployment, not just the cookie-cutter, typical vendor

focused on security and VDI related items as there hasn’t been a huge
emphasis or knowledge base available in these areas before.
He has presented at many venues around the Southeast and within his
local CUGC chapter, but this presentation at E2EVC is his first
presentation in the big leagues. Shake and Bake.
